About Us
Thackerays was founded nearly 30 years ago in Northampton by husband and wife partnership Brian and Eileen Richards. The plan was to provide quality, desirable clothing with first rate customer service, and this philosophy continues as the essence of the business today.
Thackerays was so named after William Makepeace Thackeray, the author most notably of Vanity Fair and many other classic books. Thackeray, like many of his kind, was often quoted for his profound statements, one of which sums up our business perfectly: "My taste is simple - I like the best."
Today, Thackerays is the flagship store in a group of six, and the business is still family owned and run. Fitzboodles (named after one of Thackeray's books) is a boutique offering modern, feminine ladieswear, and sits just opposite Thackerays in Northampton. Then there is Circus, which provides a bold and ever-changing fashion range for men and women. Finally, we are franchise owners of HUGO BOSS stores in Milton Keynes, Leicester and Nottingham.
