New Year New Wardrobe - part 2

Time to freshen up your essentials.

After you’ve gone through your wardrobe and highlighted what’s staying and what’s going, it’s time to introduce some new essentials into your wardrobe that will bring a new lease of life into every outfit. There’s always room for a new black roll neck and crisp white tee as these are staples that you will return to weekly, if not daily.

Find our top essentials below:

Everyone loves a black skinny jean, we return to them time and time again which is why we believe that this is a part of your wardrobe that you should invest in. Whether it’s for a night out with heels or thrown on with a trainer, your black jeans are a staple.

Our favourites are the J Brand Marias in Seriously Black. The best thing about these? They have been tried and tested to stay black practically forever, meaning that once you invest, these jeans will just keep on giving. Cost per wear is the winner here: at £200, worn once a week, for the whole year = £3.85 per wear.

There’s nothing like that feeling of putting on a pair of crisp white trainers for their first outing; darting and dodging puddles to keep them looking clean for as long as possible, wearing them in so they mould to your feet. Come rain or shine, jeans or dress, white trainers become our go to with almost every outfit.

Give yourself the box fresh feeling with our Veja Esplar’s: an all white leather trainer that is super sleek, slimming on the foot and bound to go with everything (yep, we said it!)

You may think that shirting is just for work, however a great white shirt proves to be one of the most versatile wardrobe staples that you can have. Whether it’s layered underneath a jumper for preppy ‘Clueless’ vibes or tucked into jeans for a slightly more western style; a white shirt is our secret weapon.

The key here is to go for a white shirt that doesn’t look like you’ve raided your child's school uniform drawer. Opt for a shirt that has a point of difference, with a slightly more ‘fashion’ edge: a balloon sleeve, an exaggerated collar, or a longline oversized style.

Sometimes all you want to do is throw on a t-shirt and jeans and be done with the day... we get it! Which is why fresh white tees are a great answer to this, always making a simple outfit look effortlessly put together.

Our American Vintage t-shirts have that cool girl off duty look; slightly oversized with a subtle burn out effect and v-neck. The best thing about them? You can style them up a million different ways: the neck pulled low, layered with necklaces, off the shoulder, with a neckerchief, with blue jeans, with black jeans… you get the point!

You’ve probably heard us say it a million times, but we can’t live without a mom jean. Our new go-to for a super comfy and vintage inspired look for off duty attire (perfect paired back with your white tee’s) is the Riley jean from Agolde in a true denim blue.

The great thing about mom jeans is that their straight leg can be styled in so many different ways and adapted to suit trends: turned up with a trainer, with a heel for a night out. For ultimate style creds try tucking it into boots to channel the utilitarian trend that is going to be a key trend this Spring/Summer.

A very simple way to smarten up any look is by popping on a blazer. Over jeans, dresses and trousers, a blazer is a key outerwear piece that just keeps on giving. Although you may have seen a few blazers in the store over the past few seasons, SS20 is going to be the perfect time to bring your blazers out to play, no matter the style.
