With new SS18 arrivals slowly but surely arriving at Thackerays in-store and online, we thought it about time we share with you the SS18 trend guide. What new designs will be appearing, new colours and new prints and patterns:
1980s for day and night: The 1980s theme will be visible for both day and night with the focus being on nipped in waists, strong shoulders and vintage wash denim for day, and loose fit tops, red and sheer designs for night.
The basics: Each season comes along with the new AND the old. We love seeing old classics return each season, whether they have been remastered to look a little different and more modern, or whether they are the same as all them years ago when they first came about. We like to call these types of classic pieces the 'investment' items. These include trench coats, trainers, the trouser suit and pencil skirts.
New designs/details: Now we come on to the new designs for SS18, the types of pieces we don't see each season yet feel like we have always been missing. This season it's all about shoulder details on blouses and shirts, crystals, 'raw' fabrics and loud logos (every designer seems to be adding at least one garment with an oversized logo on it for this season).
The prints/patterns: The prints and patterns are key for any maximalist women out there. This spring/summer we see the return of the check; plaid patterns were everywhere for AW and designers are showing that they aren't just for the cold months...it's evident more brands are wanting their pieces to be worn all year round, rather than just for one season. Polka dots are another big print for SS18, and are already gracing the shelves everywhere. Lastly we have a print that comes around every spring/summer, and that is florals. This year however the florals are taking on that 40s and 50s approach so keep a look out for them.
